Kerastraight Smoothing Treatment Service

At RMUK, we choose Kerastraight for our smoothing service.


Kerastraight (sometimes referred to as Brazilian Blow-dry) is an anti-frizz treatment that smoothes, and strengthens hair, making it more manageable and cutting self styling and drying time by half. This treatment is not chemical or permanent, meaning it fades over a period of 4 months.


Kerastraight also contains low pH proteins allowing for hair repair. This means that unlike traditional chemical relaxers and straighteners, Kerastraight actually benefits hair condition.


A Kerastraight treatment can be performed over any type of coloured hair, including chemically damaged hair, to help rebuild the hair's strength.


This innovative hair straightening treatment takes 3-4 hours to complete.

Hair perming chemically alters hair fibres and restructures your strands to create texture and body, even for those who have thin, fine, or fly away hair.


Again, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all hair solution. We offer various perming techniques that can result in different looks, from spiral perms to multi-textured perms. Perming can, in fact, be used to create a soft wavy effect that can be left to dry naturally.

FAQ

  • How long will my perm last?

    A perm can last for as long as 6 months, but this entirely depends on two things: 


    1. Hair texture, length, and technique used to complete the perm. 
    2. How well you take care of your perm.

  • How to look after permed hair.

    1. Leave your hair alone for 48 hours. This means not styling it, or washing it.
    2. Keep your hair UV protected. We recommend using the Kerastase Soleil range that will also protect your hair from chlorinated water. 
    3. Avoid getting permed hair coloured. 
    4. Wear your hair loose to maintain its shape.
    5. Use high quality shampoos and conditioners that are designed specifically for treated hair. 
    6. Condition your hair regularly. Chemically treated hair is prone to dryness, and curly hair is easier to damage, so locking in moisture using a perm-safe conditioner is vital to perming aftercare.

  • How do I wash permed hair?

    Our tips for washing permed hair: 


    1. Wait 48 hours after treatment before washing to allow the treatment to settle 
    2. Wash your hair only once a week using perm-specific shampoos and conditioners only. 
    3. Brush dry hair using a wide toothed comb or detangling brush. Avoid brushing wet hair as this can lead to breakage. 
    4. Moisturising hair masks will be your best friend. Use these once or twice a week for optimum results. 
    5. Do not rub your wet hair with a towel as the friction will cause damage. Gently pat it, or scrunch upwards with your fingers. 
    6. Dry your hair on a low heat using the diffuser applicator for your hair dryer.
    7. Wrap your hair in a silk scarf overnight to avoid friction.

  • Will perming my hair damage it?

    Perming hair shouldn’t cause long lasting damage as long as it is properly cared for.

  • Does smoothing treatment use chemicals?
