To celebarte graduating Amy held a hair show spectacular at RMUK on Tuesday 7th June.
Her theme for her show was Moulin Rouge, her inspiration was the song Lady Marmalade famously sung by Christina Aguilera et al.
Amy wanted to push her boundaries and created looks on her models that wouldn’t necessarily be worn in everyday life.
Amy found her show stressful at times but a very rewarding challenge.
Well done Amy!!

Our Graduate stylist, Amy, recently went twice to London to take part in Central St. Martins fashion shows. The first show Amy and 3 other L’oreal stylists created hairstyles for the models walking the runway. Amy created a look with plaits leaving the hair very natural, not too sleek and polished. The plaits were sealed with thread. The brief was natural hair styles so not to take the emphasis away from the clothes.
On Amy’s second visit she created hair styles on 3 models for Central St. Martins BA fashion show. Here she rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as Daisy Lowe, who was a model for the show, as well as working hard back stage. Her brief was messy, textured hair. Amy created a look of a quiff at the front, hair loose over the ears and tied into a knot at the nape of the neck. Others celebrities at the show included Christopher Kane, Hilary Alexander, Meadham and Kirchhoff, Craig Laurence, Lanvin’s menswear designer Lucas Ossendrivej and the Deputy Fashion Editor of the Financial Times, Carola Long.
Amy feels like she has learnt a lot from her experiences backstage. She has learnt to work as a team, new ways to create different hairstyles, learnt different hairstyles from what she has done before. The hairstyles she created are something different to how she styles her clients hair on a day to day basis within the salon. She also learnt how to use different resources such as thread rather than elastic bands to seal a style, also how to use different equipment such as tongs.
Well done Amy, here’s to more session work for you!

RMUK finally had their Christmas ‘do’ on Sunday 22nd May (a little late, but better late than never) at Go Ape Reddington. Not the best of places for people scared of heights but definitley a place to overcome that fear. Everyone had fun as you can see by the pictures, especially Massi as he went to another Go Ape this weekend!!
