Lauren’s Photo Shoot for Your Hair Magazine

By RMUK on September 9th, 2011

Following her success with L’Oreal Professionel’s Evolution Team, senior stylist Lauren recently worked on her first magazine photo shoot for Your Hair Magazine, a step by step styling article. It is for the October edition, the shoot was called Trick or Pleate. Very apt for Halloween.

Lauren was given a small brief of twisted twirls, which would create the  look the magazine was looking for but she was able to give her own twist to things.

On her shoot she applied L’Oreal Volume Riche 4 to her models damp hair and blow dried using a bristle brush, lifting the hair from the roots. To protect teh hair she sprayed L’Oreal Constructor Spray and curled the models hair with GHDs. She put a french plait in the front section across the forehead to the top of the ear, using kirby grips to secure the plait.  Once the curls had cooled she ran her fingers through them and secured the overall look with L’Oreal Fix Anti-Frizz.

For her second shoot she pinned the side section on her models hair back and pinned in an elegant feather clip. She dressed out the models hair and applied L’Oreal Professionel finishing products. Her model had a final change of clothes and the final photos were taken. And wella…..

Congratulations Lauren.

RMUK Hair Show July 2011

By RMUK on August 25th, 2011

The team at RMUK were treated to a hair show by the assistants of 2011. Each assistant had to think of their own theme and create 2 hair styles from this theme. Laura choose Glamour, Ashley chose Rock and Roll, and Kim chose 1950′s.

Each assistant created a mood board to show pictures of their theme which they found in magazines and on the internet.

They coloured their models hair using L’Oreal Professionel colours then created 2 styles – 1 avent garde and the other a more casual look

The models make up also complimented the hairstyles. Finally the models each had an outfit to model

Laura chose Glamour for her theme. Her inspiration came from magazines such as Vogue and Elle which always have the best celebrities pictures looking glamourous at various award ceremonies, parties and photoshoots. Her mood board showed pictures from these magazines to show glamour in different perspectives, such as bright lipstick, big hair and long dresses. She practised hair styles, put ups from designs worn recently by Cheryl Cole and Scarlett Johnassoen

She created her hairstyle on Amy by colouring Amy’s hair with L’Oreal Professionel majiblond for an ashy tone of blonde. She prepped her hair with L’Oreal Volume Riche 4 to creaqte body and give hold to the hair. She backcombed the front section and used Infinium hairspray to hol it in place. She sleeked the sides and all the back section up and rolled it under at the top.

On Hannah she prepped the hair again with Volume Riche 4 and Curl Contour Spray as she needed the hair to be curly and volumous. Hannah’s hair was then curl using GHD styler 4 then pinned it into the nape of her neck. Laura backcombed and teased the ends of teh hair to create a messier look.

The clothes her models wore were trendy yet dressed up, something someone could easliy wear for a night out or occassion

Ashleigh chose Rock and Roll as she loves the grunge look and a lot of styles can be created, from very simple to crazy avant garde styles. Ashleigh’s inspiration came from the fashion and make up that is associated rock and roll and the less effort the more effective the look is.

She created her first models hairstyle by crimping 1 section of hair then curled the next section. When the whole hean had been curled or crimped Ashleigh uswed a simple backcombing technique, on the crimped sections, by pushing the hair from the ends to the root to make it appear texturised.

On her second model Ashleigh she coloured her her with a Majirel red mix. She created the look by working L’Oreal Volume 5 mousse through the hair then rough drying. She sectioned the front part off to backcomb it. She plaited both sides of the quiff, she then curled the rest of the hair , pinning both sides back to disguise where the plaits finished. To create a flowing look she left some of the hair down.

Her models clothes clearly reflected the Rock and Roll look from the black jeans, leather jacket, biker boots and the Alexander McQueen skul scarf. The make up was dark and edgy, lots of black eyeliner and smoky, smouldering eyes. Perfect

Kim chose the 1950′s as her theme. She chose this as she really likes the hairstyles such as rolls, quiffs and big curls, and fashion from this era. She got her inspiration from Grease and icons such as marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

Kim’s first model’s look was based on the Rock and Roll side of the 50′s. She coloured her model’s hair with an all over Richesse colour. She blow dried her models hair using L’Oreal Volume Extra 5 mousse. She back combed the top section, then rolled it vertically and used grips to hold into place. She curled the rest of the hair using GHD stylers then used a bow to clip the hair into place. The hair was then sprayed with Infinium hairspray for extra hold.

For Kim’s second model she choose to show the more glamourous side of the 50′s, think Marilyn Monroe. She used L’Oreal Pli to set the rollers in her hair to give hold. When removing the rollers she pulled her fingers through to soften the curls. The hair was sprayed with Infinium hairspraY to give hold.

Kim’s models had contrasting outfits to show the difference in the 50′s. Her fist model was dressed in a Pink Ladies jacket, black top and black leggings. Her second model wore a femine floaty dress.
