Met Gala 2012

By RMUK on May 8th, 2012

There are celebrity parties and soirees, and then there is the fun-filled glamour fest that is the Metropolitan Museum Ball. While some call it the Oscars of the fashion world, the annual Met Ball or The Costume Institute Gala celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s (The Met) fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. For one night in New York, Hollywood and the fashion world come together in spectacular fashion providing a fascinating synergy between the world’s top designers and their muses

For most hair was kept in simple buns or ponytails as to not distract from the fabulous details on their dresses as shown by Lilly Collins, Gisele, Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce and Nina and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Talking about Gwyneth’s hair Errol Douglas said, “Mrs. Martin does hot. Again! She always keeps the hair old school movie star sleek and simple, focusing on its condition and polished finish, so that the dress can make a statement. She’s rocking a a huge SS12 trend in the centre parting, starting low for a little more drama fitting with the occasion. I love the shorter dress length to the front and the embellished pocket detail here, it makes sense to keep the hair stylishly simple.”

Side partings and curls were still on trend at the ball as sported by Hilary Swank, Amy Adams and Emma Roberts

Another hair trend worn at the Ball was the softly tousled looked as see on Heidi Klum, Liv Tyler, Scarlet Johansson and Chloe Sevigny

Lauren’s Photo Shoot for Your Hair Magazine

By RMUK on September 9th, 2011

Following her success with L’Oreal Professionel’s Evolution Team, senior stylist Lauren recently worked on her first magazine photo shoot for Your Hair Magazine, a step by step styling article. It is for the October edition, the shoot was called Trick or Pleate. Very apt for Halloween.

Lauren was given a small brief of twisted twirls, which would create the  look the magazine was looking for but she was able to give her own twist to things.

On her shoot she applied L’Oreal Volume Riche 4 to her models damp hair and blow dried using a bristle brush, lifting the hair from the roots. To protect teh hair she sprayed L’Oreal Constructor Spray and curled the models hair with GHDs. She put a french plait in the front section across the forehead to the top of the ear, using kirby grips to secure the plait.  Once the curls had cooled she ran her fingers through them and secured the overall look with L’Oreal Fix Anti-Frizz.

For her second shoot she pinned the side section on her models hair back and pinned in an elegant feather clip. She dressed out the models hair and applied L’Oreal Professionel finishing products. Her model had a final change of clothes and the final photos were taken. And wella…..

Congratulations Lauren.

Kate Moss

By RMUK on July 27th, 2011

Kate wears what she wants. She is more of a trend setter than a trend follower. She is one of the greatest fashion and hair influences, (think the james brown crop) of all time due to her originality and her rock-star lifestyle. She popularized so any fashion items such as skinny jeans, Ugg boots, demin cut off shorts, Viviene Westwood pirate boots, Alexander McQueen’s skull scarf and the Balenciaga handbag.

Kate has an urban-grunge-rock style while mixing labels and high street together to create an attainable yet effortless look but still keeping it chic cool.

Vanessa Hudgens Wavy Up do instyle

By RMUK on July 27th, 2011

Get the look:

1. Start by running a texturising cream such as Bedhead Small Talk through damp hair

2. To get loads of volume, blow dry your hair with your head upside down until almost dry

3. Flip your head the right way up and give yourself an off centre parting before you finish drying. Run a little shine serum, L’Oreal Liss Control, through the midlengths and ends of your hair to get it looking really shiny

4. Take sections of hair and wrap them around a curling wand, start from the back and work forwards

5. Gently run your fingers through your curls to give them that dishevelled look

6. Leaving out the front section, pull your hair back loosely and twist up into a messy bun, secure with a couple of pins. Leave the front section loose to frame your face.
