How to grow out your crop hair cut at RMUK

By RMUK on February 20th, 2013

Short hair has been on trend for a while now, but what happens when you want to grow out your crop? Well take advice from Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway to seem to be growing out their crops. Short hair is still on trend though this season it has a more feminine softer side to it

Michelle Williams was spotted yesterday with a longer version of her usual hairstyle on Good Morning America and The Letterman Show. It is still a short hairstyle yet looks feminine and well styled. Short styles like this still need attention and regular trims. It is sometimes thought that if you want to grow your hair then you don’t get it cut. This is not the case, leave a little longer in between appointments, so if you normally saw your stylist every 6 weeks leave it 8 weeks. Regular trims give the hair shape and style and in good condition. Perseverance is key in growing out short styles

Embrace that awkward growing out stage and make new hair friends by using hair bands and grips to style your hair.

Change your parting can give your hair another look and its an effortless way to exaggerate the length of your hair

Make the most of your ears, simply tuck your hair behind them

Undercuts are making a return due to Yasmin Le Bon’s dramatic new look

By RMUK on August 16th, 2012

Yasmin Le Bon might be approaching 50-years-old but she can still put off a drastic hair-cut.

The 47-year-old model has had her locks chopped off and is now sporting an edgy short style slicked back hair with an undercut.

Yasmin appears to be channeling the 1970′s with her new style.

But with her blemish-free and pillow soft skin, Yasmin pulls the look off with aplomb. In fact the Iranian-British model could easily be confused with her 22-year-old daughter Amber Rose.

And it wasn’t just her hairstyle that was effortlessly cool, Yasmin was also pulling off a fashion edgy look.

Terri Hatcher’s new hair cut 2012

By RMUK on June 26th, 2012

I love it when a middle-aged celebrity makes a big change with his or her hair. So I was dying to see Teri Hatcher’s haircut, which she debuted last weekend in Hollywood.

The last time we saw 47-year-old Teri she was wearing her dark hair long and really full (which I’m guessing was a whole lot of extensions.)

Now she’s showing off a spunky bob but her new style is hardly the sleekest of hairdos, with the ends appearing uneven with its seemingly razored effect.

Even Teri’s colour appeared in need of an update, with her lighter streaks, which can be very flattering, seemed grown-out at the ends.

Hair Trends for 2013 at RMUK

By RMUK on January 15th, 2012

The haircut and colour we choose is more personal than even the clothes we wear and says so much about us. And, like our clothing, much of it comes down to what’s in fashion as well as what suits us best. So here is our 2013 Hair Trends Guide

Hair Trend: Ombre/Dip Dye/balage – whatever you want to call it!

Alright, most of us by now know of the popular hair colour trend, Ombré. No matter how overdone you feel this look is, we predict it is here to stay in 2013. With so many various options out there for Ombré, this hair trend can still be fun and different! But this year it’s more about having fun with vibrant colours as well as more natural look from last year

 Hair Trend: Reverse Ombre

Two big hair trends this year is the return of ombre colored tresses, and with that a slight twist on last year’s favorite. The ombre look is now being reversed. Hair that features blonde roots and dark ends is the newest look in ombre

Hair Trend: POPS of colour - Have fun with your colour this year, bright, vibrant slices of colour, purple or pink dippede ends or rainbow highlights

Hair Trend: Short Haircuts

While there will still be plenty of ladies growing out their locks to rock those highly soft after beach waves, but we predict a sharp increase in the amount of short hairstyles present in 2013. Whether it’s a hard rocker look like, Miley Cyrus, or a softer Michelle Williams/Ann Hathaway-type look, be prepared to whip out those thinning shears! P.S. Those quiffs aren’t going anywhere!

Hair Trend: Fringes/Bangs

Maybe you’re more on the conservative side, and not ready to be completely bold and cut your locks off in 2013 – and that’s okay, you can still try a new hair trend, like a fringe! We think that the demand for fringes/bangs, both soft and edgy, will continue to be on the rise. We will help you choose the right fringe for you by taking a look at your facial features – we will help you decide which of your features you want to enhance, and what you wish to hide!

Kate’s new side sweeping fringe compliments her face shape, giving her hair extra dimension. It’s amazing how a small change can freshen up her look and give it a sexy, sultry edge. Paired with these soft waves the style has a slight ‘70s vibe. A refreshing change to the beautiful, bouncy blow-dry we are used to seeing from the Duchess.

From micro fringes to eyebrow skimmers, textured to uniform, fringes are set to be bigger than ever this year! The forehead decoration/fringe is the perfect way to finish off any hair cut.

Contact RMUK Today to book a consultation to see which of 2013′s trends will suit you best.

Our Hair Heroes of 2011

By RMUK on December 29th, 2011

Cheryl Cole
She has gone from brunette and bouffant to blonde and sassy but whatever Cheryl Cole does with it, the nation’s women love her hair. The 28-year-old has been voted Britain’s hair icon for 2011 with thousands envious of her thick, full locks.

Jessie J
Best known for her poker straight, ink black bob with a perfect fringe slashed above the eyes , Jessie J brought precision cutting to the forefront of fashion this year with her must-have head-hugging cut in a pristine shade of purest black. This year also saw Jessie experiment with wigs and extensions, showing off a violet bob and silver dip-dye lengths as well as glamorous waves and curls.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
The latest addition to the Royal Family has fast become a firm favourite with the press and public alike thanks to her chic outfits and fabulously blow-dried bouffant.
Making glossy, gorgeous, natural-looking luxury a trend in itself.

Rihanna
A constant style chameleon, Rihanna’s styles this year have ranged from bright red corkscrew curls to a demure blonde for her photoshoot for Vogue magazine

Katy Perry
She was announced as the face (and hair) of ghd in April 2011 and Katy Perry continued to keep everyone talking about her barnet throughout the year with colour changes a-go-go. When Katy Perry dyed her hair pink, it didn’t come as that much of a shock to fans as she has been known to change the colour of her locks quite often. From black and pink to blonde and blue, this year has seen Katy give her pin-up girl style a comic-book colourful twist.

Alexa Chung
Alexa always manages to style her pared-down bob in different ways to keep it looking fresh and new. Straight locks suit the cut of the bob giving a more boyish charm, while gentle waves help soften the style making it a more feminine and vintage look. Alexa has become known as Queen Bee of balyage.
”I just like her tossed off hair. It’s chopped, she lets her natural texture come out, she doesn’t look tortured with blow dryers or straightening irons or anything. She is sexy, obviously very sexy, but in a fresh and kind of tomboy-ish way.”

Lady Gaga
The queen of kook tamed things down a bit in 2011, switching her OTT multi-coloured wigs for high-octane glamour – albeit with a trademark Gaga twist.
Mint green bouffants, silver chignons and pastel pink ponytails all ensured the first lady of pop stayed firmly in the spotlight this year.
