Plaits have been on trend for a few seasons now, and why not? There are so many ways you can plait your hair, traditional plait, fish plait, french pleat, the list goes on. This season sees a simple thin plait at one side of the hair going round the back of the head to harness the rest of your hair. And don’t worry you don’t need to have super long hair like the models in our pictures either! This style sports 2 trends in 1 style – the plait and the side parting. Both are huge on the catwalks at the moment

On a more sensible note Erdem catwalk show showed sleek sophistication.
Erdem is more known for prints and colour but this season went in a completely different direction. All the outfits were black or covered in a black veil and the models hair were swept into a side parting and straigthened for a polished look. The whole show had a very femme-fatale fell to it and far more dramatic than their previous collections

This look is easy to acheive:
- Shampoo and conditioner your hair as normal.
- Towel dry your hair. apply Liss Control to damp hair for a smooth look with slight hold.
- Blow dry your hair using a paddle brush for a smooth sleek finish into a side parting
- Run GHD straighteners over your hair for a straighter look, not forgetting to use L’Oreal Hot Style Constructor Spray to protect your hair against the heat
- Apply a pump of L’Oreal Mythic Oil or Moroccanoil to tame flyaway hairs and to add extra shine
- Finally tuck your hair behind your ears, DONE!

Hair Trend for Men: Long hair (not recommend for fine, thinning hair)
As trends go long hair on men has always been a bit controversial. But forget the hippy, disshevled, surfer, Liam Gallagher look, this season it’s all about clean well groomed, long hair. This look may be hard to achieve especially if you currently have one of the shorter styles that are very much on trend. When teamed with the correct facial hair you can certainly forget hippy – this is 19th century gothic chic for the contemporary and cosmopolitan gent.
If you want to go for this look we recommend regular haircuts to avoid the hobo look. Regular haircuts can create a variety of different looks so your hair doesn’t look unstylish whilst growing it. Long hair is just that, no layers or choppiness, and aim for one length or not least no extreme differences in length between the front, back and sides (no mullets).
Don’t overload your hair with products just use something for control and slight definition. Products we recommend are L’Oreal Homme Density Shampoo for volumising, and a light weight conditioner such as L’Oreal Volume Expand conditioner. For styling we recommend L’Oreal Natural Liss for smoothing and slight hold. Depending on the look you want to achieve use a brush when drying your hair for a smoother, polished look. Or use your finger tips for a more natural, wavy look.

You would have had to be living in a different universe to not have read about Katie Holmes over the past 3 weeks
Here she is in a particularly well-timed pre-planned photoshoot for ELLE US, for their August Edition.
She is rocking a bold new look, with waist length hair and a chunky, full, lash-skimming fringe.
Bold fringes are set to be one of the biggest trends for Autumn/Winter 2012, especially if you have longer hair.
We think Katie has had extensions added for length and thickness but even still she looks sexily amazing which is great for the new single Miss Holmes
