There’s one word that never comes up when talking about the glamorous girls of TOWIE, and that’s subtle.
The pumped up, uber-tanned and artificially enhanced cast of scripted reality show The Only Way Is Essex have made false nails, glue-on eyelashes and fake tan their own. Ever since the launch of The Only Way Is Essex we have seen an increase in the number of clients having eyelash extensions and nail enhancements. At RMUK we provide both Acrylic and gel extensions.
The TOWIE girls such as Lauren Pope, Lauren G and Amy Childs, don’t wear them long like they did in the 80s – they wear the shorter or more medium length.
Both of our therapists provide nail extension services, Jo creates longer nails using acrylic, award winning Georgia uses Bio Sculpture Gel. Acrylics have always been most popular as more salons provide this service. We are one of only a few salons in the area that provides Gel extensions.

Achieving perfectly arched eyebrows at home with a pair of tweezers is a painful chore with the added risk that you might end up looking a bit skewiff and over plucking.
Which is perhaps why we at RMUK have noticed an increase in this service as there is a demand for a more professional job.
The Duchess of Cambridge and celebrities, including actress Keira Knightley and presenter Alexa Chung, have helped create a trend for heavier, carefully shaped brows and we’re not talking about the infamous scouse brow. These ladies’ eyebrows are shaped to frame their beautiful faces
It is not only the desire to emulate celebrities that is making more people come to RMUK. Experts say it is also fuelled by women realising how much the eyebrows can do for their overall appearance.

Scientists have devised a new treatment dubbed ‘Botox for eyelashes’ that could make mascara a thing of the past.
The procedure involves applying a lotion that encourages lashes to grow and thicken – and it is already a hit in the United States, where it is used by actresses including Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, Claire Danes and Brooke Shields.
Two British doctors have now brought the treatment to the UK, opening a chain of 33 clinics that will offer a four-month course for £200.
The solution is applied daily during that period and is claimed to double the thickness of lashes, as well as making them 18 per cent darker and 25 per cent longer.
Miss Hendricks said in an interview that the treatment had started working after only one month. ‘I’ve just always had completely average eyelashes.
‘I’ve never been impressed with them,’ she added. ‘I’m constantly having to wear so much make-up and false eyelashes.’
Miss Danes claimed the treatment had been so successful that she had to trim her lashes.
After applying the lotion for four months, women can reduce the dose by half to maintain the lashes’ thickness and length. If they stop the treatment altogether, the lash will revert to its thinner, shorter original condition.
This treatment is bigger than Botox in the U.S.,’ said Dr Mark Fuller, co-founder of the LashesClinic chain which has already treated 600 women at its centres in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, London and Glasgow.
During clinical trials in 2008, it was ruled safe for cosmetic use, though pregnant or breast-feeding women and anyone who has had cataract surgery in the past three months were advised against use.
Doctors behind LashesClinic claim side effects came only from overenthusiastic application.
‘Two out of 600 patients reported red or itchy eyes,’ said co-founder Dr Usman Goheer. ‘One was applying the solution to the lower lash – it is only supposed to be used on the top lash. The other was using two drops instead of one in an effort to grow her lashes more quickly.
‘We put them back on the right track and no one has stopped using the treatment because of side effects, or because they have found that it doesn’t work.’
